From her beginnings in Broadcast Communications to her impactful roles in financial services and nonprofit work, Tanya Henderson has explored various paths. She started her career as a part-time teller and grew within the financial sector, supporting customers and employees at companies like World Savings, Wachovia, and Wells Fargo. Even while working in finance, Tanya embraced creative and challenging pursuits—writing romance novels, dabbling in stained glass, and achieving a red belt in Kuk Sool Won, a Korean martial art. Her dedication to community service is clear from her long-standing involvement with Each One Teach One, where she played a pivotal role in its development and leadership. Now, as the interim executive director, she's working to improve literacy and economic mobility in Bexar County. Tanya's journey reflects a strong drive to learn, grow, and make a positive impact, no matter the field. She has also enjoyed a 41-year marriage and has two grown up daughters.

Albert brings 29 years of experience within the field of education including experience as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, Director of Student Support. His educational experience includes prior instruction with special education, 504, low socio economic and culturally diverse student populations. He also brings background knowledge in the area of academic instructional interventions and progress monitoring having conducted his doctoral dissertation in this area. On a personal note, he has been married to his beautiful wife for 29 years and has 3 children ages, 19, 15, and 13 who keep him young at heart!

With ten years of experience in adult education, Marsha Benton has established herself as a positive, energetic, and knowledgeable instructor. She specializes in advancing adult education and workforce training, classroom management, and promoting positive student learning outcomes. Her unique blend of workforce experience enables her to adapt to students of varying abilities. Additionally, she possesses strong cultural awareness and an innate ability to build rapport with a diverse range of individuals and groups in impactful roles. As a PhD scholar and lifelong learner from Higginsville, Missouri, her dedication to God, family, education, and community is evident in every facet of her life and professional career. She holds a master's degree in Organizational Development and Human Resource Management from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Leadership. Marsha has served as the lead distance learning instructor for the Adult Literacy Program with Region 20, where she transformed the program into a successful learning model. She also teaches in-person and online courses in Adult English as a Second Language (ESL), High School Equivalency (HSE), and Citizenship preparation. She is committed to creating a safe learning environment with high expectations for all learners. As an advocate for commitment, compassion, and community-based learning, she fosters a mutually beneficial experience for all participants beyond the classroom, creating a win-win for everyone.

Michelle brings a wealth of experience in teaching, coaching, and nonprofit program management. A former volunteer tutor with EOTO, Michelle has also served as a classroom educator, adult vocational trainer, nonprofit coordinator, and life coach. Her background in supporting diverse learners and her dedication to community service align perfectly with our mission to empower adult learners. Michelle’s personal commitment to making a positive impact through service makes her a valuable addition to our team, and we are thrilled to have her on board to help advance literacy in our community.

Micaela Mize is a passionate educator and advocate for lifelong learning, bringing a Master’s in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from UTSA to her role as Career Navigator and Literacy Advisor at Each One Teach One. With a background in adult education, career readiness, and individualized learning, her goal is to guide learners on their path to academic and professional success.

Elizabeth brings a wealth of experience as an educator and case manager, coupled with a deep commitment to supporting local arts and culture. Beyond her professional contributions, Elizabeth is a talented writer and artist who enriches her community through creativity. When she’s not working, you’ll find her reading, collaging, or enjoying walks with her dog.

A San Antonio resident with 20 years in the nonprofit sector, Amy brings expertise in behavioral health, operations, and storytelling—primarily with youth in foster care, homelessness, and recovery communities. She looks forward to showcasing the transformative impact of literacy on our students.

Maria was born and raised in Honduras and brings over seven years of administrative experience along with a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Coming from a family of educators—her grandparents even owned schools—Maria has always been surrounded by a love for learning.
